Photos from New Year's Day Ride to Golden and Lookout Mountain

Denver, Colorado
Twelve riders, six SQREAMers and six of our pals from the Stella Stars, met up for coffee at Scooter Joe's. Too bad Scooter Joe's decided to be closed all day on New Year's Day. Ten of us (Randy & his wife took their Stella-with-the-sidecar to the movies) rode together from Denver to Golden. The weather was pleasant if a little cool but, hey, it's January and this is Colorado! Once in Golden, we enjoyed a little warm-up at local coffee shop, then climbed to the top of Lookout Mountain. The ride is a little challenging but also really fun, the view is tremendous and the champagne (and Dixie cups) came out as we all toasted the New Year!
Finally someone pointed out that we'd been standing around at the top of Lookout Mountain, chatting away, for a half hour. Wouldn't it be more sensible to ride down and continue the conversation in a warm restaurant? So we fired up the scoots and ripped back down the hill and grabbed a table for ten from the surly waitress at Woody's Pizza.
After enduring some of the worst service ever from a bossy and argumentative server who seemed determined to make sure we all knew how unhappy she was, we finally settled our bill and went our separate ways.
All in all, it was one of those days that memories are made of. A special shout-out goes to Gary and the Stella Stars for their company on the ride. What a great group of people!
